1. Introduction

StayPro ("we", "our", "the app") is a hotel review platform designed for business travelers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under applicable data protection laws, including the EU GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).

2. Data we collect

2.1 Account data

We collect your email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are securely handled by our backend provider, Supabase, and are never visible to us in plain text.

2.2 Content you submit

This includes:

• hotel ratings and reviews
• hotels you add to the database
• your criteria weighting preferences
• activity used to calculate your Verified Traveler badge (e.g., number of distinct hotels rated)

2.3 Automatically collected technical data

When you use the app, certain technical information may be collected automatically by Supabase or your device, such as:

• IP address
• device type and operating system
• app usage logs
• authentication logs
• crash or error reports (if enabled)

2.4 Third-party data sources

Hotel listings may originate from Google Places or similar providers.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to:

• operate your account and allow you to log in
• display your ratings, preferences, and contributions within the app
• calculate aggregate hotel ratings shown to other users
• personalize search results based on your weighting preferences
• maintain the security and integrity of the platform
• improve the app and its features

4. Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data based on:

• performance of a contract (providing your StayPro account and core features)
• your consent (when required, such as optional features)
• legitimate interest (ensuring platform security, preventing abuse, improving the service)

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

Your data may be shared with:

• Supabase, our backend provider (authentication, database, file storage)
• Google Places, when retrieving hotel information
• Apple, as the operator of the App Store through which the app is distributed (e.g. download and basic usage statistics)

All third-party providers process data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

6. International data transfers

Depending on your location and the infrastructure used, your data may be stored or processed outside your country, including in the European Union or the United States. When required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active.

If you request deletion of your account, all associated personal data will be removed unless we are required to retain certain information for legal or security reasons.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• access your personal data
• correct inaccurate data
• request deletion
• restrict or object to processing
• request data portability
